At Outlook Energy, we specialise in proprietary and asset-backed short-term power trading. Our unique trading insight and forecasting software predicts the fundamentals which drive the market, enabling us to stay ahead of the competition and help balance the Grid. The Role:

We have a unique role for a trading meteorologist who can take a view on factors influencing UK electricity demand and renewable energy production right now and how they might change over the next few hours out to the following day. First and foremost, you will work closely with energy traders and asset operators scrutinising our UK demand, wind and solar generation models. In addition, you will use your knowledge to help our data science team improve our in-house renewables forecasts and develop new tools to assist you in your role.

  2. Through the working week, you will attempt to add value to our solar generation, wind generation and national demand forecasts through directly scrutinising the relevant weather forecasts which fuel these models. You will always be at hand to attempt to explain any discrepancies as they arise.
  3. You will also provide day-ahead traders with any relevant information for them to make decisions for the following day.
  4. At times when you will not be directly assisting our traders you will be helping our data scientists develop better models of renewable generation through your extensive knowledge of weather models, weather data providers, and weather patterns.
  5. With the right data, Outlook can develop new tools to help you perform well in this role-designed to your specifications.
