Fire Weather Forecasting Workshop – Tuesday 5 February 2019

05/02/2019 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Fritz Loewe Theatre: McCoy Building: University of Melbourne | 253-275 Elgin Street | Carlton, VIC 3053 | Australia
Tuesday, 5 February 2019 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (AEDT)

The National Council of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) invites you to our upcoming Fire Weather Workshop on the 5th February 2019 at the University of Melbourne.

This event aims to bring together scientists from across Australia to recognise the 10-year anniversary of Black Saturday and to provide the opportunity to pinpoint future research efforts into fire weather and behaviour. In addition to the workshop, we will be hosting a public lecture to communicate the research that has changed the way we understand and respond to catastrophic fire events in Australia, and what these findings can tell us about future fire conditions under a warming climate.

Morning and afternoon tea provided.

The event will be followed by the AMOS Annual General Meeting from 5:00pm to 5:40pm and the AMOS Free Public Lecture – ‘A decade on: lessons from Black Saturday’ from 6:00pm to 7:3opm at the Copeland Theatre, University of Melbourne (click here to register for public lecture).

AMOS Members:  Free
Non-Members: $50.00
Non-Member Students: $25.00
