2017 AMOS Art Competition
Only One Sky
Thank you for your interest in the 2017 national AMOS Art Competition, open to preschool, primary and secondary school students. We had dozens of fantastic artwork entries in 2016, and welcome even more entries for this year’s competition. The 2017 AMOS Art Competition theme this year is “Only One Sky”, inspired by the Only One Sky international citizen sustainability effort.
Competition entries will be accepted between August 11th and September 22nd, 2017. When creating artworks, in any medium, entrants need to consider the following:
The sky is beautiful and dynamic - constantly changing, never the same twice. It is not just above us, but around us. It’s the air we breathe and the water we drink. The sky wraps completely around our planet connecting us all as one global family. No other resource does that in quite the same way. How do you interpret the sky through your artwork?
Only One Sky is running a Sky Day
on Friday Sept 22. School students around the world are encouraged to take a photograph of the sky on the day and upload with #SkyDayProject and #AMOSupdates.
Paint, draw or sketch what you see when you look up to the sky. Photograph your artwork, described and send it to us for a chance to win some cool prizes and $150 for yourself and science products for your classroom.
If you (as an individual or class) would like to enter the competition, please submit your contact details, scanned/photographed artwork, and artwork description in the form below. Note: photography submissions are only open for Grades 10 to 12; all other still art mediums are acceptable for all categories.

Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and intepretation of the only one sky Theme. The judges are renowned meteorologist, Dick Whitaker, and artist and Director of the Only One Sky effort, Ben Whitehouse. Since the sky connects all of us, there will also be a “Peers' Favourite" award for the secondary school categories, judged by our friends on the other side of the world at the New Trier High School in the USA. There will be book/cash/product prizes for winning entries in each category and for the associated schools.
