The AMOS Melbourne Centre hosts a number of annual events for its members. These include the:
- Weather tipping competition
- Pearman Lecture (usually hosted in June or July)
- Priestley Cup soccer tournament
- Postgraduate symposium (usually hosted in November)
- Careers evening
- Annual General Meeting (usually hosted in December)
We also host a number of other social events (e.g. movie nights), public lectures (e.g. about new and significant scientific reports in the AMOS sciences) and professional development courses (e.g. computer programming, science communication) throughout the year, as relevant opportunities arise. To alert our members of these events, we advertise via email, the AMOS eNewsletter, the AMOS social media pages (see our Twitter and Facebook pages) and via the events page of this website.
In addition to organising events, the AMOS Melbourne Centre committee awards the annual Victorian AMOS Regional Award for Academic Achievement and contributes regular material to BAMOS. If you'd like to get involved with the committee, please contact the AMOS Administration Officer for details.
