AMOS Brisbane Regional Centre Award

The Brisbane Centre of the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS), Queensland is pleased to announce the AMOS Queensland student award for the most outstanding research thesis in the atmospheric and oceanographic sciences at a Queensland* university. (*applications from institutions in Northern Rivers district of NSW will also be accepted).

The award is open to Honours, Masters and Doctoral students who have completed their theses in 2010 and is designed to promote and encourage research at University level into atmospheric and oceanographic processes. Nominations for the award must be received by the Secretary of the Brisbane Centre by 18th February 2011. Applications will be assessed by the Brisbane Centre award sub-committee, and assessment will be on merit. The award will be made in March 2011 when the recipient of the award will be presented with a cash prize of $300 and a framed certificate. The awardee will be encouraged to present a talk on their thesis at an AMOS meeting.

Application Process

Applications must be made through the School or Department in which the candidate submitted their thesis. Schools or Departments may nominate up to 4 theses for the award in any year. Applications should be submitted on the application form, include the thesis Title page and Abstract and should be submitted together with a letter of nomination from the principal thesis supervisor. This should include the grade awarded for the thesis (Honours), and supporting documents (published papers) and comments that they consider appropriate.

Closing date for applications is the 18th February 2011.
