Climate Science Communication Workshop - 9:00am-12:30pm, Elisabeth Murdoch Theatre, University of Melbourne
September 24, 2010
The science of global warming due to increased levels of greenhouse gases is well established. Through the numerous reports from the IPCC it has been shown that observations over the last few decades are consistent with predicted trends. However, the acceptance of the science by policy makers and the wider community varies substantially indicating that there is a breakdown in the way that the science is being communicated.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together those involved professionally in both the science and communications fields to identify the key challenges that must be overcome to enable more effective engagement with various audiences.
